SENATORIAL OFFICE

• Elected as a Senator on the ticket of Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid e Azam) 2002-2005 and reelected as such 2006-12.

  • Negotiated a pact between the government and opposition parties particularly the MMA which ended the boycotts and agitation in the Parliament and the 7th Constitutional Bill was finally passed in December, 2003.

  • LFO was not accepted as a Constitutional document and instead was duly amended through the Constitutional amendment. And

• Most importantly General Pervaiz Musharraf was made to publicly promise to shed his uniform by 31 December, 2004.

• Made a unprecedented statement in Parliament on ignoring his promise of shedding the Uniform by General Pervaiz Musharaf that ‘He has broken his trust with the nation and lost an opportunity to lead’.
